Spain 27th/28th March 2010

Right - now you've had a taste of wide open trails how about doing it in some warmer weather?biggrin

I'm already going to my old place over the weekend of 27th/28th March next year and will be riding at least one day. The guide there has kindly held those dates for a short while for an exclusive DGTRF ride group and discount is available, especially if we can get more than 6.

Figure on £120 a day using their bikes and kit, plus B&B, flights etc. Maybe a couple of quid more for the 450's but I can ask if anyone definitely has to have a big bike.

Yes, riding in the UK is cheaper but how many more times are you gonna use that excuse to stay here?

Just booked my flights from Exeter Thurs to Mon for under £100 and Easyjet from Bristol may be cheaper still.

I'm not going to try and herd cats like last time so if you're definitely in then PM me and I'll need a £50 deposit within 4 weeks. If not then those dates will be open to other interested parties and I'll ride with them but it would be a right larf doing it with mates (without a KTM in sight...)biggrin

Could be the answer to that tricky question - "what do you want for Xmas darling?"

Hi Ming,

I'll be down there a week or so later on the 7th April, have booked couple nights B&B, riding down from Santander.  Not the quickest or cheapest way of getting there but making a tour of it, roll on!

expect you'll get some interest,

mike

The owners of Trailworld had their Xmas party over there a few weeks ago - here's a nice vid Paul did on his helmet cam.

This is an easyish route up to the windmills as they had some of the girls along - there is a MUCH harder route if you fancy it in Marchfuriousbiggrinfuriousbiggrin

The route they went down through the clouds is probably the way I'll take Jules (and anyone else) up - the rest of you can try the goat track.........8inches wide in places, plenty of rocks, certainly won't get an ambulance up there if you get it wrong!

Flip flops definitely a possibility Rob - mother-in-law got sunburn last week!

Here's a vid of when Micheal Guy from MCN came over earlier in the year - they had the Sherco's then but you can do the same routes on the CRFs/CCMs.

Won't be long now, big boy!

Should get the booking forms soon, so I'll need your sizes for waist, chest, boot and helmet (if you need their gear).

Oh - don't forget to get your NHIC card in time 'cause you can't ride without one!

They've fitted the CCMs out with Hagon rear shocks as the originals are cack, so should be capable of hauling your arse up the hills!

Have a good'un. Let us know how it went, plus any good pics and vids will be good.

Consider yourself a rep and sell it to me when you get back, I can then convince SWMBO that I can go on the next Spanish outing.

Here are a few photos of my trip, with a few good mates, to Spain, riding a 450i Sherco. It is a fantastic place to ride, and, as luck would have it, the weather was great. 22deg every day we were there!

I have put the link to the tour guides web site so you can check them out. Our guide Andy was great and after every days ridding, I came away feeling it was worth every penny.

Enjoy..

DSC01036

Some of you may know the two geezers above. Tiz Ming (Andy) and Clayton. This mountain is 1500 meters above sea level and was the best ride of the visit. Clayton and myself rented a 450i Sherco (mine) and Clayton had the Beta 450 carbed model. Cracking bikes to ride. The rest of the group chose the CR230 Honda's  and CCM 230's because they were scared biggrin

DSC01197

Ming,Tj,FBF and our guide on the way up to the top of the above mountain. Check out the view in the background.

DSC01156

This was one hell of a climb, it was on an old unused MX track. The camera doesn't show the steepness.
DSC01027

This little house was way up the mountain. I reckon it was used for hunters or it would make a great party house.

DSC01021

Ming found the biggest pile of high altitude poo in Spain disbelief

DSC01151

The Pain in Spain rode mainly on the plain, Clayton looking mean and moody blehashamednobiggrin

DSC01157

See if you can guess who this riding god is ?

DSC01125

All this water comes from the top of the mountain and all ends up coming out of one hole just up from this photo, the locals fill up containers of the stuff and cart it home. It does taste good
and I'm still here so must be OKsmile

DSC01102

This is Jules, Claytons better half. She road the bike with skill and determination and was great company, look at here go..............................biggrin

DSC01103

Yours truly..................no

We all paid for two days riding and had two days sight seeing (5 nights B&B). Car hire, from Record Rental at Malaga airport ,was 54 euros all in ,for 5 days (bargain) On one of the none ridding days we all went to Torremolinos, forty five Min's drive from the B&B and had a really good day. It was still out of season so was not to busy, god knows what it's like in August.

All in all, worth ever penny. Great accommodation , friendly hosts and good value. RECOMMENDED.

Thanks Hoops.
Forgot to say, on the first days ride, we only saw one Range Rover and a bloke with a gun, hunting. And once up in the hills, NO BLACKTOP.

Second days riding, much the same biggrin

Well I had a great time.

Some clips from my helmet cam, unfortunately the cam misted up slightly due to the change in altitude

It wasn't all sandy dry tracks

Friendly waving folks out there instead of the scowling miserable lot here.
