Salisbury Plain "Range Open" Dates for December.

December is always a good month to ride the legal byways of the Plain as towards the end of the month training stops altogether.

The Larkhill/Westdown byways are open on-

5th/6th December.

12th/13th December.

and from the 19th to the 31st of December Inclusive.

The Bulford Rifle Range byways are open on-

5th/6th December.

and from the 14th to the 31st of December Inclusive.

The January dates wont be out for a month yet,but i would guess that all the byways will still be open until early Monday morning,4th of Jan.
Just right to work off the Christmas pud.biggrin

Another intresting thing that happens over Christmas is that the MOD open the Imber range,so you can pay a visit the "ghost" village and church.

The dates are-

8.30am Friday 18th of December through to 6.00pm on Sunday 3rd of January.

Only the metalled roads can be used-

Warminster to Gore Cross via Imber.

Bratton to Heytesbury via Imber.

You could use the family car on the Warminster-Gore Cross route but the Bratton-Heytesbury route is trail bike/4x4 only.

If anybody wants any pointers on Imber or any other area on the Plain then please give me a shout.

I'm not a 100% sure yet,but i'm hoping to get out on Saturday the 19th of December, when i know for sure (in a week or so) i'll post up the details.

A winter ride on the Plain is something you've got to try, just don't forget your diving mask and flippers.biggrin

I'm out tomorrow (Nov 21st) with a group from the Trail Bike and Rally forum, bikes ranging from the normal orange things to a Africa Twin and a KLE 500no

I think they might be in for a bit of a shock.biggrin Wish me luck.

Cheers,
Andy.
