Was reading 160 pages of the prelude to the launch of the 1200 on ADV riders forum the other night, it looks really nice, but bloody expensive and only available at the moment over the interweb thingy.....

Think I'd want a test ride (not currently available) before parting with that amount of cash!

I was looking at a 660 the other day in bridge, still prefer the TDM though.

12-14k I think!

Which is a tad pricey - certainly more than the equivalent BMW. Remember, I'm a dyed in the wool Yamaha man!

It a lovely bike, would be great to ride to work or maybe ride accross several Country's.

But would you really want it off road?

It is 261 KG, that is more than 2 KTM525's in weight (before you ride them down a lane)

It wont ride "in ruts" it will create it's own.

Don't get me wrong as a direct competitor to the GS1200, looks great - but........ I ask where would you use it?

I do like the shaft drive.

I'm not putting it down, but Tamsin rode a WR450 on her "Big" adventures - is a 1200 really needed?

Off road test drive would be the best,  bomb hole on 192 046 it would sink without trace, and for that sort of cash you could custom build your own with all the bells whistles and paint you wanted.

Pearcy could even have a hydraulic platform installed to lift him into position, but would he be able to touch the pegs, let alone the floor
