Hi all, giving some serious thought to a long off road tour in foreign parts.
Im thinking spring to summer next year and Im thinking several months.
At the moment Im thinking that Mongolia is the goal and destination. Although my 1st choose would be to ship the bike somewhere and then ride one way home.
I might keep a topic open with the information I collect, visa regulations, insurance and general planning issues, although I tend to plan things to the bare minimum limit.
Also any practical advice, feedback or past experience is very welcome.
At the moment its just me. When the route starts to take shape Im very open to people joining in, maybe riding part way or joining for particular sections.
I'm in the planning stages for a bit of a trip. This site is a very good source of info http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hubb/ but, you might already know about it.

Rich,
Should be a good one, I had a look at some of the places we talked about, bloody hell, they are a long way away. But that's the point, I guess. One thing Rich don't forget to take a bike and to put a tank of fuel in it before you leave, HE HE
Good Luck. (if I loose my job to redundancy , I may well have the time to join you)

Through Europe to Oz/New Zealand, across and up to Alaska and down to South America, across to South Africa, back up to Europe and home, but in a couple of years. Between now and then I'll be expanding by adventures, so that it'll be a natural step. Got full approval from SWIMBO as well
