Selling a bike without a V5

I noticed an error on a new red V5 for a TTR I bought back in the summer and sent just the front page back to DVLA with the correction on 19 September.

Despite chasing it up I still haven't got the corrected V5 although I did keep the New Keeper Supplement so I have the new V5 document reference.

I have now sold the TTR but don't have a V5 to give the new owner. Anyone else come across this situation and can advise what to do?

The V5 isn't lost just being delayed by the DVLA evileye

I used to buy and sell cars from auction with no V5 as they were repo's. A new owner of a vehicle can easily apply for a new V5 via filling in a V62

I would take the 'buyers' full name and address etc and issue him/her with a full and informative receipt. That way then the buyer has full proof of purchase and you can then also fill in the new V5 when it arrives and forward the relevant parts on to DVLA and new keeper. Sorted! Everyone happy! ;o)

It may make the bike hard to sell to a stranger.  Would you buy a bike without a V5?

Thing is Chris, Brian is a trustworthy bloke and just by looking/talking to him you know it's a kosher deal.

Now if it was you selling it.......

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Fortunately the TTR's new owner was happy to take it away with a detailed receipt and await the V5.

Let's hope DVLA take their finger out and get it to me soon  evileye
