I'm bemused......

Now it don't take much but....I just dont get it....

I have a 2005 freelander had it since virtually new (ex demo) - don't care what you think or say as it has been a very failthful, reliable family workhorse and I love it....gets us about it the winter, gets used like a pick up with the roof off and seats down.....taken us all over scotland on  holiday recently.....comfy....bla bla....and at the time I bought it it was a reasonable price for what it was - about £13,500 as i recall - remeber it was basically new...

Normally would have changed it by now but they stopped making them and bought out the new freelander 2 which is mega bucks - even 2nd hand you can't get anything half decent for less than £15K so I have been looking to see what else is about.....

Saw a TV add for the new Nissan Juke - smallish, cheapish, 4x4 methinks so I go and have a look.....well they are all 2x4 cept the top of the range 200 BHP jobbie which is over £20K.....and I just want a small basic 4x4....not a 200bhp tarted up sports hatch cry all you get for £13K is 2WD

Now when I tackle the sales dude he says a yes we wanted to produce a 4x4 that handles like a mini cooper!

I then point out that it's not actually a 4x4 - ah yes good point he says.....but it does handle like a mini cooper though......so i say but if i wanted a mini cooper then thats what Id get - i want a small 4x4......and this looks like one so why isn't it?

Anyway - I then see an ad for the new mini countryman.....which is......a 4x4......

So we have nissan making a 4x4 which is 2x4 and handles like a mini but looks like a 4x4 and a mini that is 4x4 no

Anyway I gave up on that started looking back at freelanders as I saw they were making a new 'basic' one.........and it's......2WD....hmm

I just don't get why anyone wants a 2wd - 4wd..if you get me - if I want a mini I'll get a mini - if i want a landrover - I'll get a landrover.....

Bit like garages selling grocerys, supermakets selling petrol, British gas selling leccy, the leccy board selling gas.....etc etc.....

Why don't anyone stick to what they are supposed to?

A bloody 2wd Landrover....cry......it's just to much man....I can't take it.....disbelief

The L200 Mitsi's are ten to a penny, meant to be a good truck - not small though.....

think the only reason mini have started to make a 4x4 is they wanted to get back into the wrc and obviously 2wd just won't cut it!
should be interesting next year to see the minis back in the forrests and on the snow and ice

One of my boat building customers has put a mini shell on a short wheelbase shogun chassis!
Looks quite good actually, he is a regular winner in scrap heap challenge though!

I totally understand your bemusement young JT.

Just been reading the express & echo whilst eating me tea, (known locally as Dinner)

Read a story about a poor old lady in Exeter who suffered fatal injuries after being struck by a reversing lorry.

The E&E reporter wrote that the ladies friend who had dropped her in town prior to the accident has said that, quote; "she seemed quite chatty before the accident".

No ****e sherlock!  stone the bleedin crows.nononono

So for the DTRFG "mindless waffle for no good reason" award for friday 15th Oct goes to; the exeter edition of the E&E and the aforementioned staff hack.

The reason they are doing this is because most 4X4s never go off tarmac.  The mums on the school run feel safer in a jeepy looking thing so they are making things which look like 4X4 but have the ride and price of a fwd car.  Marketing, huh?furious

Yea but thats to big for madam - persoanlly I would have a defender but she don't want anything bigger than the freelander.....

Basically I want landrover to start making them again, then I'd have a TD4 with an Auto box - sorted....

Bloody 2wd landrover - i still can't get over it crycrycry

I know what your saying Chris and your dead right lots of folks want the 'look' without the cost, ride and fuel consumption, I know of many freelanders with the propshaft removed  - but then I don't get the 4wd mini - which is a non 4x4 looking 4x4 disbelief

That complaint of yours JT was very well written and made perfect sense.smile

Gas company sells electric, electric sells gas ect.no

I don't have an answer to your problem, but if you want a machine that will go any where, be cheap to run, reliable, looks good and lets you pull all the birds....... it's very hard to beat a Suzuki DRZ400e.

Proof is, Your Mrs LOVES mine biggrin
