As my Forma ATV's are getting a bit tatty after 2 years.....
Really want another pair but note they are now called Forma 'adventures' and seem hard to find.
So any suggestions/ideas on what I should get? - I much prefer leather over plastic, want a good grippy sole and don't like them hulking gert multi coloured ski boots
JT Whatever you do DONT buy Hebo Eco2 boots, bought a pair last year leaked like sieves from the start and now look like they are 10 year old complete and utter Crap

The gaerne`s that I ride in are now over 10 years old, they were never waterproof as such, but what is. What I am trying to say is the boots are still great, with nothing broken and everything working as it should.

You can have my old pair for nowt - still plenty of life in the body of the boot but one of the middle straps isn't far off breaking. Might see you through for a little while. Dunno what size they are, if you're interested let me know and I'll go and take a look.
Ta chaps for all yer help - kind offer hoopsie - but mine are OK for 'spare' It's just Mrs JT looking for pressie ideas and I fancy new boots BEFORE me old ones give up....
Still with the Forma adventures (like the boulders but with Dan on the protection front) - just my formas have a glued on sole and it's coming adrift
But going into Albions to have a look at these that seem good value and I like the look of em........look very similar to my formas but appear to have a stitched on sole instead.
12 years on and many many rides later my Gaerne boots no longer look new but are still comfy,I reckon they are worth the extra and although they were never truely waterproof and the metal fell off the toecap years ago they stubbornly refuse to wear out and all the buckles still work fine. They have saved my ankles many times over without breaking, priceless.
JT, I have a pair of Fox boots, made by Forma, 9 years old and still solid! Waterproof too! These look like the new version. Mine has the inner comfort bootie aswell, very good if you wearing them for a long ride out. What price are they?? Not that mine need replacing just yet!
Chris.

.........................................mine are far from waterproof but an occasional coating of canvas spray does help.
Occasional squirt of WD40!! Cleans them up a treat and helps keep the wet stuff out!! And I always seem to have a rediculous amount of the stuff kicking about!!

This Saturday morning CMS have a winter stock of boots coming in. Might be worth a try.
Think the TCX you have used to be called Oxtar - I have a pair of Oxtar TCX-Evo road bike boots which are excellent.
Remember seeing the MX versions a few years ago and they were nearly 300euros in Spain Nice boots but I found them a bit too stiff - no doubt they would have broken in over time.

On the lanes I use Tech 3's, which initially feel very stiff, but it's the protection I'm after so I put up with that. They don't seem to let much water in, but I always ride wearinglong SealSkinz socks after a near frostbite experience when I stalled in 202-144 a couple of winters ago (it's shallower now thank goodness). The Tech 3'slook very plasticy but hold up to use very well. The sole isn't that aggressive, not as much as I'd like, but are much better than a motocross alternative, for those times when you just have to get off and walk.
I'd been looking for a pair of waterproof boots with some protection for my daily commute. The Tech 3's are too much of a faff at either end, so I went to the NEC show aiming to get a pair of TCX Infinity's, the reviews seem good. The cheapest there were£170, but when I tried them on, the lower buckle sits right over my ankle bone, and I felt that any prolonged walking in them, may cause a rubbing problem. They were also a bit slack which I couldn't take in by using the buckles. So I kept on looking. Forma did a boot, the GT that looked like it was made in the same factory as the TCX, cheaper in places and £30 cheaper in price.
Then I saw the Sidi Adventures. They felt so much better made than the TCX. The buckles were positioned differently, the buckles operated very precisely. They fit me very well and I can slip them on and off with ease. They offer more protection than the TCX, but not as much as the Tech 3. They have Gore-Tex lining and a commando type sole offering more grip than the Tech3's. If they'd been around a couple of years ago, I would probably have gone for the Adventure over the Tech3 for Trail riding, let alone commuting.
Anyway, the price at the show was £225, so I got a pair. Hope they perform as good as they look.

Worn them a couple of times now and very comfy but not at all waterproof. Gave them a good old treat with Renapur before they were used but to no avail. Not a prob really as I always wear my sealskinz anyway.
They are very similar to my old Fomas (ATV's) which never leaked - the only difference is thye way the sole attaches - bonded on the old ones (which is what finally let go) so I went for these as the sole is stiched on - i recon the water gets in through the stitch holes. Gonna try whacking some more stuff around this stitching and maybe drench them in Neatsfoot (what I always used on the last pair).
So, comfy, good feel, look to have more protection that the last pair but not waterproof!
Also could do with a patch on the LH toe for the grear lever like the old ones...
