Depends how far you have to travel, I tend to ride to where I need to be but use the trailer for certain events.

All down to how confident you are that the bike will get you home after a day on the trail.

Depends on how far I'm going - not much fun blatting down the motorway on a thumper.

If it's a slower, scenic journey, then I might ride. Otherwise it's a trailer - also to events where there is a chance that the bike (or I) might suffer some damage!

I always tried to take a trailer to track days when I did those - there was always somebody who broke their bike.

I bought a trailer ayear ago hardly used it. Don't think I will bother for anywhere in Devon.

If I were going to Wales or Salisbury plain as an example then yes.

Well spotted, maybe I should start using the trailer as it has yet to be used except for the Somerset Event.evileyewink

As mentioned in a previous post, I arrived home, after riding from Marsh Barton to Umberleigh,  a dinosaur...................... I had a "Megasaurarse" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It won't stop me riding that distance in future though.

Hate using trailers - ever since a badly tied-down TY175 fell off going to a trial in Bristol years ago.......

Had a van ever since and it's sooooo much easier to put it in, tie it down and chuck all manner of kit etc in plus you have a sheltered changing room at the end of the day when you're dripping with mud.disbelief

If it's more than 10 miles to the start of the ride I'll take the van and go from there, but then CRF230's are not the best bike for long tarmac stints, esp on quick A roads or motorwaysnonono

There is a big plus to riding the bike to the meeting place (if it has a sixth gear for roadwork, a comfy seat and engine balancer) and that is you know you will have everything when you get there. No possibility of forgetting the bike keys, boots, helmets, gloves, etc wink

When we were doing the exploratory runs for the first T2T I rode to Totnes and back a couple of times from Exeter on the TTR with no ill effects.

I usually end up trailering the bike to the start of a run or track event. Mainly because I live away "oop narth", in Somerset! And, with KTM service intervals it would mean stopping en-route for a quick oil and filter change. I do like to use the car though. I tend to load all riding gear and equipment the night before, and then just push the bike on the trailer in the morning and away. It means that I arrive at the start of the ride dry, warm, with no aching bits and full of fuel! I usually enjoy the drive home too, with a bit of quiet time in the car to think about the days scrapes and mishaps!!
