Last night at the Mondo Enduro presentation / do, I bought the Moto Siberia DVD.
At the beginning of the DVD, I was thinking what have I wasted my money on? But as the story unfolds it gets really interesting.
Maciek Swinarski (The film maker) learnt conversational russian before embarking on his journey, so he was able to "blend" a little more effectively with the locals. The film is subtitled but don't let that put you off, It's worth the effort. Ok so he won't ever be as famous as Ewan & Charlie but Maciek's adventures are much more engaging and "real". Although in places the DVD is just plain crazy.
Maciek and his friends travelled on KTM 640 Adventure bikes. I found it quite interesting in how they stood up to the task. Its also interesting that on subsequent travels they have switched to KTM EXC 400's and a DRZ 400. So maybe Austin Vince's small bike ethos is the way to go?
