You've got that right.  Anyone thinking of buying a new diesel car must be prepared to take it on long journeys and thrash the mother........  If you don't, the DPF (diesel particulate filter) will not be able to regenerate, on comes the warning light and its off to the garage for manual regeneration.  Moral of story, if you do short journeys and like to nurse your engine, don't buy a new diesel.furious

That happened recently to my sisters Vectra SRI Diesel, on her way back to Chedder form Cornwall. She normally only does about 60 miles per week.

My Mondeo Diesel does approx 46K per year so hopefully won't have that issue!
