Has been discussed before and was a reason I was given not to get a 2 stroke....
Normally I just fill it up when it gets empty and don't take much note (or care really) about MPG
But on a ride Sunday I did take note of the distance, and it was a reasonable paced ride with quite a lot of road work.......it was a tad over 60 miles door to door and those with me would verify this.
The tank on my KTM 250 EXC 2T was brimmed when I left home and on Sun night I filled her back up.
So come on then - 60 miles, reasonable pace, good amount of road work........how much fuel did it take to fill it back up??????
The Gasser went on reserve @ 68 miles, although that was before I altered the float bowl height. Never been on a ride where we have ridden for a solid 60 miles, and not been too far from a petrol stop.
I think my tank is 11.5 L so I could in therory do over 100 miles on a tank - I have done 80 before and not hit reserve so it kinda bears that out......
Quite chuffed and suprised at 50 MPG - but then I guess if I was wanging round a track then the sub 20 MPG figures i had been warned about would be much nearer the truth

Just looked it up - says yours has a 7.5 L tank - that right?
If so 68 miles on 7 ish L is over 40 MPG........

my 08 200 exc with a 9.5lt tank is only doing 55 miles to reserve laneing and would only risk an hour on an event it guzzles it but its massive grin factor so i can live with the crap range
That's pretty good mileage there JT. It's amazing how ecconomical a modern 2T can be if it's calmed down and you don't rag it.
I don't often bother to check mpg but on the Devon Challenge camping trip last year I decided see what kind of mileage I'd get when used in a 'Adverture Rider' type mode - I averaged 55 mpg (with non-standard gearing, standard gearing would have done better). That was 404 miles and 7.26 gallons of petrol - 6 fill ups but it was a case of get some whenever you can and not when you need it.
I think now I'll check the old girl's mpg on the next run to see how she does.
