Went out for a ride today to escape the Royal wedding.
Lanes were very dusty and following behind the rider in front i did not see the the large rock that i hit head on and pinched my tube. No worries i thought i have a spare tube will change in no time .
Unfortunatly i had borrowed the 22mm socket from my bike tool kit for another job and not replaced it. Damm could not remove the front wheel rang the Mrs and asked her to bring it out to me , i may as well have been speaking a foeign language , 22mm what !!!
Then had to push my bike back down the lane through the travelers camp ( i thought i should put that as pikey and gippo may offennd) that we had just past through back down to the main road by the horse rescue place in Totnes . Foal and Mare Sanctuary i think its called. The guys i was with were concerned it was going to be a Deliverance squel like a pig moment but i assured them i would be fine and let them continue as not to spoil their day because of my neglect.
Between the Four of us we could not muster the tools to do a simple tube replacement.
Fortunatly the AA were pretty swift in turning up and i was on my way within the Hour.
Lesson learnt- have a specific tool kit for your bike with the essential tools you need for a road side repair, AA is worth every penny and if you are going to break down the horse rescue place is the place to do it as the girls are very friendly .
They have asked me to mention on this Forum to please ride sensibly up past the rescue centre as they have had a lot of problems with Quad bikes , I assured them that we as Members of the TRF follow a strict code of conduct but that i would pass the message on.
i think motion pro make tyre levers with a socket on the other end not cheap but saves carrying extra tools tremmlett had a few in cant remember the size he had worth a look
