maps of legal lanes

Hi all,

Having recently joined the trf could someone point me in the right direction to get the details of my local trails that i can ride legally.

areas around barnstaple, croyde, woolacombe, ilfracombe lynmouth.

i have been invited out with hoc to the torrington area but between crashing and my fun pass has not coinciding i havent linked up with him yet :) (cheers mate)

the best way im sure is to go with the locals but there's not much action online from people north of barnstaple so not sure what to do.

ive highlighted the ones i know but it'll be guess work really as o/s maps arent really clear as we all know and i'd preffer to keep it legal.

thanks all..  dom Ilfracombe

Dom - send an email to the overlays man:- johnleah@blueyonder.co.uk

He will send MM overlays (ask for csv version) and also Google Earth overlays if you want them.

You have to be a bona-fide paid up TRF member though.

Google earth with overlays and a trusty 1:25k os map and your laughing.

John L sent me the link PDQ (cheers) and not looked backbiggrin

I like the MM / Road angel geek stuff but I'm a paper fella and that's part of the pleasure for me (and fellow bimblers)

IMHO Do keep it legal, I'd hate to have to track you downevileye, if you were to head south (or down the Exe Valley) I'd be happy for a mini meet upsmile

Does this extend to people who aren't specifically in the Devon group? All paid up, etc, but the East Mids group meets three miles from my house, and you chaps are 250 miles away ;).  I'd love to actually get down in person and meet up/ride out with you lot, but the reality is we're only down there a handful of times a year to visit the in-laws in Ilfracombe, and the odds on it lining up with a mid-week meeting on the other side of Devon are a bit slim.

Cheers,

David

David, to be honest I don't really know if the overlays are ONLY available to DTRFGroup.
However, since you wouldn't be really wanting them to plan your local route then why don't you watch this forum a few days before your intended Devon visit?
I'm sure if you posted then someone would be willing to organise a special day out for you.
Even if they can't then I would be more than wiling to show you around.
I live on the south east of the county and Ilfracombe is in the northwestish - so we could always arrange a mid-county meet to start the bimble.
Someone will be on shortly to give you the definitive on overlay availability to members.

An interesting thread to watch/ join as I was wondering about knocking on the neighbours door (Zomerzet and Dorzit) and poaching their lane info for some cross border movements. I've used Trailwise a bit, but our overlays kick its butt, so to speak.

Anyone know official TRF guidance?

It works like this;

Overlays are FOC to Devon TRF members, (john will cross check your member number).

Marked maps are free but we expect you to send a SAE to Liz and make a donation (£10 is good).

Overlays and Marked maps are free to all other TRF members, (but we like a donation £25 is a good place to start).

As for new members; i update the Devon Membership a couple of times a month, as time permits, if you've just joined you will hear from me sooner or later, if you're getting bored waiting drop me a PM and remind me its time to do an update.
