Bicton Horse Trial 1st July 2012

What a cracking day we had, that was until jason's engine let go so the last few hours got very busy for me and the big husky. The support staff looked after us very well and jt will kick himself having missed all the free food, the coffee cake was very good well nearly as good as the chocolate cake, scones and cream, strawberry's and cream shall i go on !!! The event organisers donated £50 to the fighting fund the Photographers donated some fuel money and will be posting some pics off to us riding during the day.

So, on site at 8am finished 6.30pm completed 54km no lanes, one broken bike and full bellies biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Glad you had a great day Doug. Many thanks to you and Jason for helping out at short notice. The £50 was a great bonus for the fighting fund as well.

Was a great day.the event organisers were all very appreciative to us and every was polite.

Nice to meet Doug and for him to go out of his way to drop me and bike off home.thanks...

The course was fun to ride.but you do have to keep looking over your shoulder for horses sneaking up on you.

And as for my bike its MAJOR.blown crank...locked up solid...oppscry

Oh well.still didnt spoil a great day with good people.cant wait to do it again..

A somewhat soggy event for us yesterday but I enjoyed it just the same.  There were some muddy/slippery bits which were fun and the company was great (Bob & Jacks).  The horsey folks made us welcome and were appreciative of our help.  I have to admit that the sight of a horse & rider flying over a jump at speed is magnificent but their impact on the grassy bits is far greater than our tyre tracks.  The fields had become quite rough at the end but it did rain pretty hard for some time.

Shame about the rain stopping play was looking forward to helping out today.....bike was already in the van, spent a couple of hours fettling, and to be first ride out since busting my arm. Might have to do a solo tour of the cake shops in Devon to make up for missing out! yawn

Yes we had a wet day, but good fun all the same. Bicton is only a couple of miles from home for me, so i stayed to the bitter end, and collected some nice photos from Jim the phographer, for us, he also offered some money for fuel. I left him to sort that out with todays riders, but now cancelled, so wemay  have missed out on that. Cakes and tea, packed lunch etc were all lovely, though getting soggy by the end of the day.

No, they didn't mention anything to me. Money was mentioned from Jim the event photographer, and I'll try and get something from him as I know them personally. Lovely and sunny now, shame it was cancelled.

When I left at 7ish they were still deciding whether to run today or not. May be check with Harty as they obviously contacted him to post the cancellation.

Nope, they haven't mentioned any payment of any kind, same as last year.

Yesterday was my first full day riding since breaking my shoulder, its a nice gentle 'break in'.

Shame it was off.... consoled myself on what turned out to be a sunny afternoon with a solo run around Dartmoor, which was more slippery than a Barclays Chief Executive. Fun though.......although I was a little concerned to see a makehift dam near Drakeford Bridge holding back a sea of liquid mud that was at least a couple of feet deep hmm
