JT - it wasn't a problem with a Honda you had was it?
No mate....Mogwai's new XR had a flat battery (no kicker) but by disconnecting the headlight (always on) and giving him a bump start he was fine for the rest of the day
Whatever.....but I have had bikes for over 40 years, had a few button only ones that I have had to push down the road over the years but never had to push one with a kicker
When I'm down the bottom of some sticky old lane I like to know that I ain't totally reliant on a battery, starter motor, switch and a load of wiring to get me started.
Yep buttons are great - I'm just making the point that for me a button only is not a good thing, and Sat proved it....
Yep - the CRF230 doesn't have a kickstart and whilst it is bloody reliable on the button sods' law will dictate that the one time in its' life it fails (main fuse blowing due to a short is a possibility) it will be at the bottom of a bowl with no chance of bump starting.

The one time mine went AWOL was down to a dodgy main fuse cover. Once I got it cable-tied tight it was fine again, but I have bump started it within 3 yards, as the compression must be very low.

It is nice to know it's there but with good battery care (and a good battery) it's just not needed.
Never owned a Gasgas then! I left my heated grips on at Simms (exeter trial) and flattened the battery, there was no way you could bump it in any gear, but a few mins on the kicker had it going and its injected!
