I been everywhere, but yes Mesa Verde, fantastic place, but I walked down which is some achievement for me due to my GBS paralysing just over 2 years ago.
Did Vegas, Hoover+ the new sky bridge, grand canyon ( now called the awesome canyon), Page/ lake powell/rainbow bridge, horseshoe bend, Monument valley avec sand storm, Mesa verde, Colorado mountain via red mountain pass to Ourey with snow, Arches National park, Bryce canyon, run over a huge deer and trashed the car, death valley at 110 degress following 10 Harleys lol, saw one of those unmanned predators take off, badwater, 2 days in Yellowstone park, saw old faithfull go off, wildlife, yellowstone canyon, beverley hills/ Hollywood/ griffith observatory before flying back from LA, with the ghost town Calico on the way, Vegas inbetween times, with freemont and strat plus numerous other bits.
8 states, 1 trashed car numerous, wildlife sighted including Elk, Coyote, Buffalo, Otters and the lesser spotted american. Not too bad in two weeks.

HD headcams are brilliant but not always receptive to poor light conditions. Must admit Tims GoPro takes excellent video and great stills, definately consider!!
Camera though, I use a Panasonic DMC-FS30. Small and very compact with a good 8x optical zoom, metal case, takes great point and shoot photos and good video as well and good in low light so if you turn the auto flash off you get some decent shots even when its nigh on dark, great battery life as well. I can take hundreds on a single charge as long as the flash is off and seems to be fairly water resistant. New they are circa £180 but secondhand ones can be less than half that.
I took 800 photos in USA recently and about 30 mins of vid, charged it about 3 or 4 times. Brill little camera.

Great trip, I've covered the same ground but on two seperate trips. I recommend Bryce to anyone going that way. Did you get to Moab? off road capital of the world!
We did as we were near there, but time was running short as we were heading to Bryce later.
One thing I would say about Ourey up in Colorado, that place would make an awsome centre for off roading into the mountains. Old style victorian properties, public hot spring pool and several hotels with private hot springs after a hard days ride.
Apparently loads of fire roads and old mining roads there. Would very much like to ride there.
