A list of petrol stations in devon may be found on the Devon.gov website as a result of a freedom of information request and this may be of use to members when planning rides. The list is not nearly as long as it was only a decade ago with numerous suppliers having gone out of business.
If you use Navigator 11 free like I was on some rides it has petrol stations shown as POI.
I used it in the USA in 7 states and it was very good even though it was only using OSM mapping for free on my PDA. Tried to route us up a few dirt roads which are fair enough in Nevada and Arizona and up a storm drain in LA lol (could have made it on the Husky though) but apart from that it was really good considering it is free.
Btw the last time I saw the garage at Court street Moretenhamstead it had about 3 feet of overgrowth over the pumps so unless something has changed it was not selling petrol last I knew, there is one at Chagford I think.
If someone has nothing better to do, this website will convert postcode to grid ref and I can email an excel spreadsheet of the pdf file for someone to enter the grid refs and then it can be turned into an overlay.
Most downloads have files for common gps/mapping systems.
I'm not sure how up to date they are but it would not take much to check before riding.
I use a GPS that runs Oziexplorer for normal mapping and a standard satnav program, everytime I need a fuel station I switch to satnav and it finds the nearest ones. Works very well in France/Spain etc. Many thanks to Jim
Personally, I find I rarely need to fill up on a local run as my tank range is fine. Approx 90 miles before reserve. It's only special trips that need fuel planning, such as Wales, so then a little planning before hand is the answer.
