As reported in a news item:-

"A French motorcycling journalist got it wrong big time when out testing a new machine recently.

The writer/rider from Moto Journal was negotiating the 2013 Yamaha FJR1300A along a harbour edge when a pannier snagged a bollard sending the rider and machine plummeting several metres onto a pier and into a boat.

There's no word on injuries to the rider or motorcycle but as Moto Journal has posted the video clip we expect that it is only pride that has been hurt the most"

And this site has a few words on the spectacle http://www.stuff.co.nz/motoring/videos/8032600/Motorcycling-journo-gets-ride-wrong

Absolute rubbish. Stuff and nonsense. He is a lucky bloke.

On a bad day there is no boat to catch you, and your bike misses the marina walkway and lands in the water.

Could easily have been a lot worse

There must be a simpler way of detaching a pannier and even then he forgot to take it with him onto the boat.  Yamaha need to have a long think about that.....
