Me and the GF had a debate tonight about use of the word "next" when discussing future events.
We were talking on Monday 17th Dec about "next Friday". To me that meant Friday 21st (ie the next Friday to occur) - but to her it meant Friday 28th (ie a week Friday).
As neither of us yielded I looked it up on 'tinternet' only to find there is no right or wrong definition for this. It would seem possibly the majority would agree with her, but plenty would agree with me.
So be wary of this - as if I ask you if you are riding next Saturday then I mean the next Saturday that comes along ( in the same manner as if on a Sunday I may ask if you are riding next weekend - and I certainly don't mean in a fortnights time!!).
For clarity refrain from "next Friday" and use either "this Friday" or "Friday week" - both of which are clear.
Hope this useless information was of use to you.
And, if it were a Monday and someone said "meet you next Friday", then when would you turn up??
