I can't for the life of me get on with goggles when I'm laning at all, they're a pain in the ass. So who here rides with a visor as part of the helmet, I'm no stranger too it as obv my road bike has a visor, tempted to pick up a cheap wulfsport visored helmet now?!
Any negatives to them?
Airoh are the ones most use, I think the visor on the wulfsport one distorts your view when just slightly cracked open.
I have both an Airoh (for touring ADV type stuff) and a standard MX lid with goggles for straight laning. I do use quick straps with my goggles as that seems to make them easier to use and quick to remove/re-fit.
I use safety glasses sometimes when riding, don't get the misting issues with them. Easy to put on and take off and wipe clean in an instant. Good ones cost between £10-£15 so cheaper than a lid. It's all about personal choice.

I have been having the same issues, struggle with goggles - tried safety glasses but they misted up over the weekend so could see b~@ger all, ended up not wearing anything which is not a good idea, so was wondering if this style of helmet would be a good option...
I have got 1 of these very pleased with it and would buy another as and when, Bikeworx in Exeter has got 1 size large in stock and is doing some good deals at the moment just got a pair 2013 alpinestars for a very good price and is offering a discount to trf members
I had always used goggles and a mx helmet. That was until old age caught up with me and I needed glasses. Goggles were then a pain. I tried the Airoh helmet with visor and loved it. The quality is not quite up to Arai standards, but then nor is the price. The only issue I have with the Airoh is that when you close the visor it will mist up slightly and it has an annoying wind whistle at anything over 30mph on the road. It is great to just flip the visor up when you need to. I still use a mx helmet and goggles for racing though.

I think because, before Airoh, there was only £400 Arai visored helmets, so Airoh cam on the market with a cheaper £90 alternative, now everyone seems to make them

Yeah I see, might go with a duchinni as they have added sun specs, aslong as I can apply a fog city to the inside of the visor il be happy. Il try a few one and see what feels best!
I am a convert to visored helmets on the lanes but beware the cheaper helmets as the visors tend to be more "pointed" and distort vision. They can also steam up badly.
No such trouble with the Shoei Hornet DS Sonora TC-6 which now serves as both my road and laning lid.
Helmet City have a shop in West Bay and you could ring them & see if they have stock. Tel 01308 421465. Keen pricing & good service too.
I tried one on there and then I went away and thought about it. The cheek pads are removable and the rest of the helmet was really comfortable so decided to buy one. Best price was Dirtbikebitz for the TC-6 version.
The double glazed bit that fits inside the visor works like magic and no steaming up when stationery. Lots of vents and they seem to work! Nice touch is a bit of netting sort of stuff that fits between the bottom front of the helmet and your chin to stop flies and things going up underneath

That's the dogs, my road lid is a shoei. The double glazed bit u refer too is a pinlock, there not cheap as I'm sure ur aware but they never most up. I'm aware of helmet city, may save up for this as I know how comfy shoeis are, not cheap but a great lid for touring too which is something I might sell my road bike for in the future!!
FowlersrThe new wulfsport one comes with internal sun deflector too, why would any ride with it slightly cracked open?!
because when you are riding slowly, working hard so hot and maybe wet you'll need a little fresh air to help keep the visor clear and help cool your head.
also goggles work better at keeping dust out of your eyes, so better in summer.
older goggles can suffer from steaming up, i changed to oakley o frames a few years ago and haven't had any steam up issues since.
Being using goggles since i started riding and have no problems, is it because they steam up ? I also use a open face helmet which also allows more air flow through the vents. Always bought scott goggles no point going cheap.

when i 1st started green laning i used goggles and couldnt get on with them, it was the 'blinkered' effect for me that i didn't like.! they limit your side view.
the other benefit of a visor is that if you can see brambles etc coming up you just close the lid and put your head down, no more scratches on ya neck or nose! safety glasses are cheap and ideal and riding with the lid open just an inch stops them steaming up, but like rich says make sure you get one that doesn't have a distortion, like the wolfsport!
I've had shooe and Arai lids with visors, the arai is far better, the peek is bigger so keeps stuff and the sun out of your eyes better, although still not as big as an MX peek. It is also much better on a road bike and doesn't much bother you up to speeds of 100mph. If you have a hang over you notice that the peek vibrates slightly at motorway speeds but don't notice it normally. however the visors are expensive and you will go through them quickly. Also the Arai is much better if you were glasses, but thats probably a personal thing.
i have wulfsport visored helmet, i like them, i always ware clear safety glasses and visor mostly up, but flip it down on overgrown lanes etc , and leave it slightly open as stated so dosnt fog up, never had a problem with my safety glasses fogging up with visor up or down, i could not get on with goggles, didnt like the lack of side vision especaily as we dont have mirrors on enduros, kev
i wear glasses and did not get on with goggles, bought a aria discounted by £50 at the dirt bike show in 2004,still going good, best lid i have ever had.
Nor did I till I discovered Bob Heath Extravue goggles.
The larger than usual airspace inside the goggles means glasses do not steam up straight away, and since the laser eye surgery means no glasses any more it means the goggle lens does not steam up straight away either.
Better all round visibility is a plus as well.
I have seen plenty of folk, some of whom swear by their purchases on here, pausing to remove flies from inside their helmets because they have to ride with the visor open or it steams up.
Caused a funny badger one ride though when the rider following failed to stop in time for the rider who wanted to get the fly out of his helmet:
