HI there i'm looking at doing a  1-2 week maybe evene a month long trip in late September/ Early October to either the pyranees or Morocco maybe even both to break my adventure riding cherry. Basically I am looking for some info on routes and also to see if there is anyone out there who might be interested in going or no of any groups going, any info or suggestions welcome.

Thanks

Will

Nick aka Schoe000 did the GR99 route last year, which follows the river Elbe along the whole length of the Pyrenees. RichT4, Brownie and possibly myself may be doing this also in August, but I may instead be riding a 1200 mile Aragon, Navarra Pyrenees and Bardenas Desert route, which I think Rob Drake did part of with Liz.

Hi Will
I'd suggest having a good look at Google earth and picking some must go places followed by looking at joining them up. Switch wikiloc on and you'll also get lots of routes uploaded by others to give you an idea of where you can and can't go. Part of the fun is planning and it also gives you prior knowledge of an area that might make your trip easier.
Our routes may not be best as we tend to do a bit of bike hauling on occasions.

What bike are you planning on riding and how tricky a trail are you looking for?

I've been thinking that we could have special meeting one Tuesday where those of us that have done this sort thing can set our stall out with a lap top etc and show people how we do it. Would anyone else be up for this?

Cheers, Rob

Hi Will
I was thinking of putting something together for after the monthly meeting at the Dolphin in Bovey, maybe those interested could bring along some maps, details and a few pics of where they've been to show others how they planned a trip.

I'd be tempted to take a few dry runs locally to find out what you need to take on a trip, Harty has done some great trips over a few days without getting more than a couple of hours from home.

If you can't make a monthly meeting maybe we could arrange a days ride and camp with a few of us so you can talk it over.

Cheers, Rob

Hi Will.
I'm planning to go to Morocco starting the 2nd week of September for 4 weeks.
Plan a ferry to Santander and then straight down to Tarifa and over to Morocco.
Down the west coast to Marrakesh, South East to the Sahara and then have a look around the Atlas.
Heading back via the East coast of Spain and to then cut across back to Santander for the ferry home.
I've got a friend who can't take as much time off as me so the plan is currently in a state of flux!

Would be interested in meeting up on the 14th. and also a ride out some time.

I've booked on the enclosed if you're interested:

Cheers,

Hi Will and everybody,

I'm a TRF member who lost his way at least 10 years ago and havn't got a bike properly dirty in that time. So needless to say my non tarmac riding is very rusty as were my XL185's! I could however be interested in a trip to spain or maybe further at about that time. I've currently got a yamaha XT660R. I thought about trying to get to the meeting but alas not possible last week. I went to Morocco a couple of times about 4 years ago which was a baptism of dust as well as fire.
cheers

I don't believe any ex DTRFG ROW officer would ever get lost.

Long time no see Adrian, you were on a push bike last time we met.

Have you really still got the 185?

Hi all,
blimey, is that me in the photo??? No Pete, sadly I do not own a 185 any more, but I did for some years after that pic was taken. I have seen you posting in the yahoo forum reletively recently, hope you are still riding the lanes! Had an interesting moment yesterday, bumped into Bill Norris after 25 years at a guess, he works for ocean BMW and had a GS1200 company bike parked outside, ally panniers and all!!

I will be up for a meet anywhere locally, tomorrow night might be a bit tight (but might make it) I will keep watch here, Totnes area is fine. My only bike is the XT660 so won't be up for much laning locally but can meet up after... or next wednesday is good...
