There is already a post on this - but no officer has picked up on this and moved it forward.
DTRF has run a stand here for the last few years and had a lot of keen interest. This year this is obviously not going to happen as no-one volunteered early enough and nothings been arranged in time -- however Dave Thompson from ProTyre has kindly offered to put some TRF marketing material on his stand. Now from past experience I know we have a nice display board with some great photos and we have a our promotional leaflets -- yet no-one has contacted Dave to arrange giving him this material to display.
Can we get our marketing or other officer(s) to move this forward. Dave's pitch is normally in a premium area and I'm sure we'll gain membership (or better awareness of what we do) by having this in place.
Chairman responded in the last post mr wheely but if you insist on being persistent we could all go down the road of - "why can't someone else do it" then all we do is argue all night
You've already explained why you can't attend but offered to do a short stint if someone else arranged the whole weekend. many people are keen to offer to do a short stint while no one has come forward to offer to collect the advertising boards arrange bikes and collect them if needed etc....
It happens every year same weekend so may i suggest if your that keen you could arrange for next year along with all the other keen group members in the paignton, newton abbot, dawlish, area's etc....
All the vital gear is at various locations within the group if needed
Maybe I should have picked this up along with my other responsibilities, but unfortunately work and a disabled partner have to take precedence.
I get one weekend a month off from work and it is not this weekend. Any holiday that I can book off has to be booked a year in advance, I try to spend some time doing something nice with my partner and if I am lucky I may get to ride my bike.
I like a lot of others are sick to death of the few trying to do the work of many, there are over 300 members scattered all over Devon a considerable amount based in the area of the show, which unfortunately is not near me. Surely there are some local members who could make this their own.
I do not apologise for having a rant, as if more members got off the arse and did something to help instead of leaving it to others, we would all have more time to do what we enjoy.
Think the point has been missed - that's why I raised this second post.
Dave is there all weekend to promote his tyre company and is willing to put some TRF publicity at his stand (which I presume he has to pay for) so we have a suitable option. So where are the TRF props required and can we get them to him or can I meet someone half way and I'll take them down on Friday night or before my Saturday ride.
So I'm not asking for anyone to help on the day - and I think Daves offer has gone relatively unacknowledged (even though I also appreciate the officers etc do have other work and commitments other than this too).
As an aside those that have helped in the past (and I've always done a bit where I could) do wonder why it seems to be if you live near here then you get the whole show. The BMAD is one the South Wests biggest organised bike gathering - so it shouldn't be based on a locals event - cuz there ain't anything quite like it.
But let's get back on track - can we get the gear to Dave (or me) ?
I'm heading from Chard to Plymouth tomorrow am if anyone wants me to take some stuff down there. Can be at Exeter servives at 8am or earlier if needed?
WELCOME you've now joined the the other side of the fence - Frustrating ain't it
i firmly believe Biff has something there in a ride out onto Bmad site, would have been nice to have had a gazebo to meet at in the show ground itself if we were allowed to ride to it, H+S and all that
I always find its best to lead by example rather than try to organise and steer people to much, just like advertising a 'ride out' bit like you guys do most weekends
just say i'm doing a few lanes to the BMAD weekend where we will be meeting wacky in the DTRF gazebo thingie and hopefully arrive in time before he eats all the pasties
Then vistors to the show will be able to see a live version of trail riding whilst browsing through the bumf on display and generally talking 'Bollx' like wacky
seems like there's a few nice ideas coming through
No good bumping Biff. Obviously no-one has any interest in the Trf supporting this at all.
Tried n failed.
How hard have you tried? I'd hazard a guess you've just posted on here, I've missed Daves offer (assuming it was on here) but a call to any one of the officers would have got things moving. As you say it's a missed opertunity and lets hope someone takes an interest for next year as I've heard only good things about it and it should be of national or at least regional interest not just something the locals do
TRF leaflets have been delivered to Pro-tyres stand Please pop along, and maybe pick a few up to have to hand When you are talking to other, yet un enlightened bikers.
Not forgetting to purchase your tyres from Dave.

Biff picked up some leaflets and took them down to Protyre. He also has a display board but didn't take this down as it seemed a little like he was taking the mick ( and Dave wasn't there yesterday). I'm going down later - we can see if its too late.
Seems to have become a bit of a sore issue again as per the last 3 years. Not sure why that is. In this instance I was just the middle man trying to move forward on Daves kind offer. But apart from Biff no ones seems concerned whether we had any visible presence at all.
Sorry guys, only just seen this thread. I know exactly where the stuff is/or was - in my furkin garage and loft.. You all know how to get hold of me as all the offcers details are in the newsletters and the web site, I also have the mobile number of least six of the contributors to this thread on my phone, did you not save my number?
Dave did us proud with his WR out front of his stall adorned with a good selection of TRF leaflets in a prime position ideally placed to catch the eye of the many passing punters attracted by perfect biking weather. The event is certainly a good shop window for all things biking. Nice to bump into so many familiar faces today.
Brilliant to see Daves top effort. Being in the absolute pole position for this event he's attracted loads of interest on behalf of the TRF - don't think we could have possibly had a much better outcome.
Well done Dave - and to Pete for picking up the flyers.
Picking up a shiny new MT43 in a minute from Pro Tyre - so everyone's happy in the end
Nice to see both Dave and Charlie and be introduced to Charlies better half thanks for the present Charlie
Sorry I missed you Wheely not on purpose you trouble maker
Even met a couple of mates from school who I haven't seen for about fifteen years who had some of their bikes displayed on the South Devon College stand ( AN AP 50 AND A COUPLE OF FISE'S)
Had a great time even went back for a second look later in the afternoon
Happy to put my name forward for next year to help on the TRF stand anyone else?
Nic, best bet is to contact the group Sec or a officer and ask for it to be mentioned at the meeting on Tuesday as i'm sure any valuable PR gear like this should be saved and cherished
have you got any sizes of this gear mate? IE: is it small enough or fold up small enough to fit in a loft
