CORE Offroad events, Forest practice day 23rd June.

Our next event is now confirmed for the 23rd June at Escot Park.

It will be a slightly different format to Ashcombe with one continuous loop.

Escot Park is situated just off the A30 between Exeter and Honiton so again very easy to find and get to. The terrain is very picturesque undulating through the forest providing some interesting and challenging riding that is suitable for all.

You are able to run on any tyre and bikes do not need to be road legal, they will however have to pass a machine check to ensure they are safe. Unfortunately we cannot allow quads or children at this event.

Entries online will open early next week £25.00 in advance, or £30.00 on the day.

Thanks to all who support our events by entering or helping, in doing so it enables us to provide you with more and more fantastic venues that you otherwise would no be able to ride at.

Trials Bikes are very welcome as always and we will be running our normal policy of pay for the rider not the bike so you are able to bring more than one bike if you please. The land at Escot does not lend itself particularly well to natural trials areas but I'm sure you could have a lot of fun here on your trials bikes by going 'off piste'.

Whoo Hoo. The last one was a blast.
Please make sure that it's not too much of a "one liner" and ends up as a scalextric slot bike event.

You will need to bring your own fuel I'm afraid, riding will be 9.30-5pm ish.

Ian - don't worry although one loop there will be plenty of alternative lines.

*****Great news for riders at our event with families*****

We all know it is sometimes difficult to go off riding on a Sunday so we have tried to ease the pain a little at the Escot event. The management team at Escot park have kindly agreed that all riders at our event will be entitled to a 'kids go free' pass for Escot park on the day. This will entitle one child to enter the park for free with each full paying adult or with two OAPs.

I'm sure you'll agree this is a good opportunity to envolve the family as well.

Please visit their website for full park details.

16 plus but will need an adult to sign them in, any bike, any tyre. Bikes will under go a brief safety check ( brakes, kill switch and throttle returns on its own)

I know there is something else on. When I chose my date I took great care to ensure it didn't clash with anything else of a similar nature locally so as to give everyone the chance to ride each week if they want to. It doesn't help either riders or organisers to double book on a weekend as it just means people who may have wanted to ride both can't.

Is there any licence/insurance requiremnets.

If two riders share one bike do pay once for the bike or for each rider.

thanks mark

No licence requirements and we have event insurance which covers public liability.

We work on a pay per rider policy and within that you can bring as many bikes as you like. This enables people to bring classics or trials bikes alongside their enduro bike.

It was nice to see a few old faces at the meeting last night and also to meet a few new people.

As promised I have shared your events flyer with my 200+ distribution list and publicised and shared it all over Facebook. This should help you with numbers at Phoenix on the 7th July.

As discussed if we can work together to support each others events it will make them all more successful.

My offer for DTRF to have a presence at Escot on the 23rd with banners/leaflets etc still stands, just let me know what you need.

I hope to see many of you on the track in a little over a weeks time !

Matt

We have had loads of support and pre entries for this event, not so many from DTRF as I may have first thought but that may be due to the amount of runs and other events that are happening on the same day. It would seem everyone wants to do something different on the 23rd which is a shame as there are many who would like to do more than one of the rides available. When picking and planning this day over 6 weeks ago I was very careful to show respect and not to tread on any other organisations or individuals toes by double booking with their activities.

On a positive note local bike shops will do well this weekend due to most dirt bikes in the area getting used one way or another, and I won't need to spend so much time researching my next date as clashing with others doesn't seam to be the issue I first thought.

Final track prep was done today and it really is a fantastic venue with something for all. Don't worry if you haven't been on a track before or are a little less confident than some it is a friendly no pressure environment where you can experience a new aspect to your riding.... There is more to Offroad riding than greenlanes and it nice to give them a rest every once in a while especially when there are so many runs on throughout Devon tomorrow. The track is flowing in the woods and not all overgrown like the lanes are this time of year so go on give it a try and I'm sure you'll have a whale of a time.
