Its that annual pain in the arse again.... insurance renewal.
Anyone got any recommendations for insuring modified bikes: I've currently got 4 bikes on the road, a largely standard DRZ 400 kick, a BMW GS with a different pipe, slippers and luggage , a very cut up gpz 750 rat (which oddly is the easiest to insure as it is mechanically standard and has the remains of a kitemarked exhaust on it), and a GPZ1100 twin shock with various mods, some performance enhancing (tho mostly making it less dangerous...)
Its a right drag giving all those details to about 8 different companies, and quote websites usually loose the plot somewhere and come up with something ridiculous if at all.
This year I fitted a larger tank, so declared my pipe and tank, and found that Carol Nash with Aviva were the best. But, I only have one bike.......... at the moment
I'm with CN as well, they allow you about 8 mods before they treat it as "modified".
I had to get them interested and walk away in order to get the price down though. Their sales guy called me back a few times but it took until the second day before he was ready to come down to my price.
My bikes are insured with Carole Nash. At least you can talk to someone there who knows what they are talking about. Not as with a lot of other companies where it is a mindless muppet putting your info onto a computer and then saying it cant be done. Or even worse the internet insurers where you just fill the form in without talking to anyone and then the computer tells you it cant be done full stop.
