But no power valve and no expansion chamber and top end geared quite high. Sounds like it will be very progressive manageable power and probably be very good on fuel.
Think it will be an ace laner and LDT bike - probs not much cop for any serious racers like enduro or mx.

Certainly like to try one though.
I agree looking at the pipe, much closer to a trials bike pipe than a 250 2 stroke mx bike.
I found a review from an American bike mag who ended up saying they thought of it more like a trials bike with a seat than an enduro bike, they also said forget jumping anything higher than a few feet.
and concluded that if you want a small, light, nimble 2 stroke trail bike with a bit more serious bite should you need it, get a ktm 200!!

2 stroke leccy starts are terrible - I dont know anyone with a KTM 2 stroke with more than 100hrs on that hasnt had problems. I've done all the mods to mine and its still definately not to be relied upon - sometimes it works , sometimes it doesnt. 4 days in the the pyrennese earlier this year and it worked every single time, having been a bastard for months before. As soon as it got home it stopped working again. Luckily it starts on the kicker very easily. If I had any spare cash I could probably sort it, but I havent right now so I'll just use the kicker. It appears the problem is that the electric start was added to an already existing design. Whereas on the 4 strokes thestarter sits across the back of the engine, and rotates in the same plane as the thing its trying to start, on the smokers the inlet tract to the crank case is in the way, so it cant go there, and there really isnt anywhere else for it to sit. So its on the side, rotating 90 degrees from what it should be. Theres a fragile and complicated "bendix" to put the rotation into the right plane, and issues with the motor itself and its earthing to the battery. I'm sure theres more that I dont really understand. Sooner or later they will redsign the whole thing so the leccy start has somewhere proper to sit, but until they do its always going to be a weak spot. If that Freeride has the same problems - no reason to assume it wont - it will be a nightmare.

2012 150 xc fitted with a 2012 200exc engine, exhaust,Cdi,carb, etc. all numbers match and the v5 had been updated so as a 200.
This gives the benefit of the lovely 200 engine with the handling of the xc chassis (cc forks, linkage different geometry)
In addition it has
Full exc lighting kit, road registered.
Brokenlegs suspension
Brokenlegs machined head
Rejetted, Honda needle.
Rekluse EXP
with the head mods and the "secret" needle in it, it seems to be fine. just ordered a gnarly for the weekend so should make a bit more bottom end grunt. i had a 2012 300xc for a while before selling it the the ktm guru and found that this is better in the woods and as thats all we seem to have down here i think its a better bike.

Your secret is out now Joe. I think I can hear Russell laughing from abroad.
And no kickstart. Just the legendary afterthought KTM 2 stroke starter motor.
Take a tow rope.
Are the KTM starter motors a bit suspect then? Not heard of problems but I don't frequent KTM forums I guess.
I thought this one might be a replacement for the legendary CRM250 but......
TTR
The 2 smoke failure electric starter motors are very unreliable. There are many ways to mod them and make them better but they really don't have a good reputation as standard.
Haven't heard of similar problems from the 4T brigade - but think its probably a completely different motor used to turn over one if those.
