A few years ago an early seventies Yamaha RD350 (tear drop tank) appeared in my road. After a month and with no tax disc it was obvious it had been dumped so I went to the police to report it and, as it was rusting away, said I'd put it in my garage for safe keeping. You'd have thought that they'd have been happy with this as the owner, if found, would appreciate it and it would clear the road of an obstruction yet they told me in no uncertain terms that if I did I'd be guilty of 'unauthorised taking away' and would be prosecuted. So I left it where it was, it did rust away and, after about six months, disapeared.
From what I've been reading about these recently, I reckon the DMF & clutch have probably gone, so it's either been left pending recovery, or dumped as not economically viable!
According to DVLA it's taxed until July and, with scrap prices so high, even a non-runner has a value so it's either been dumped by a joyrider or broken down (or belongs to someone local who doesn't get out much!).
You'd think the police would reunite an owner with a stolen car.
You'd think the council would quickly clear dumped cars.
