Needed to pop to Torquay today so decided to take my girlfriends son's XR125 and she said she'd come along for the ride.
When we got back I asked her if she wanted to do a few lanes - and to my amazement she said "Yep"
We started off up 202-169. This lane has got a bit washed out with a deepish central rut. At the start she was uneasy but by the end she loved it.
Moved on to -188 and 189 and 191 (didn't do -190 as its a rock descent). She was getting well into it now.
Finished with -202 and -203 to Mansands - and returning up the same 2 lanes. Wondered how the XR would cope up the steep hill but it got up without much drama.
Hard work sitting all the time and having someone at the rear causing frontend to feel very light. But she was relaxed and that enabled the bike to flow reasonably well on these lanes - they're not exactly easy ones.
Afterwards she said she knows now why I love green laning.
Quick photoshoot and a video of the ascent up -202 (she help the iphone in her hand with her arm wrapped around me - was meant to be the whole lane but she must have turned off the vid by mistake).
At mansands (even wet after a quick shower, but still loving it):
Ascent of -202

I put rear footpegs on my old XR400 years ago & took SWMBO out.
On the road
Funny enough, after hearing tales of my many badgers (I had just started green laning ) she didn't want to try 2 up laning .
I did take a lad around our event at Hazelwood Farm a couple of years ago when I had a TTR & agree with the point about sitting all the time & the different weight balance. I found the front threatened to wash out a lot easier.
By the way, this is the 1st year I said 'no pillion' for my insurance, it does make it cheaper .
Me and four of my mates took our other halfs on the Taunton trial, two up, several years ago.
Now that was hard work.
Chasing down a very long ford, a fly flew in my open mouth, or so I thought, I spat it out (open face helmet), realised it was my crown (only had one then!), made a grab for it, result - total submersion of me, the wife and the bike!!!
She hasnt been keen since - cant understand it.
