Just finished my two week stint and what a waste of public money i know there was alot going on behind the scenes but for a case of the nature i was on apparently costing £10000 a day thats £80000 We were called in then sent home without doing anything on several occasions, on one seemed to be able to operate the video equipment for outside links to witnesses! The judge was always moaning he had to take his own notes, the police didnt seem to have checked a lot of evidence or followed up leads then the defendant claimed he was ill and was taken to hospital and to cap it all off the most you can claim per back per day is £64 so i am out of pocket as well, but i suppose i managed a couple of bike rides on the half days and there is one less phedophile on the streets and thats has to make it all worth it.
