My 14yr old Son is looking to buy himself a bike with the money he has been saving, I don't really want him to have a Motor X bike (although he does) I would rather it was something easier to look after/maintain.
Possibly up to 200cc but open to suggestions from anyone who has already been through this, because of his age I feel that it should ba a full size bike as he is still growing and a kids bike would be too small in a very short period of time.
He rides a 125 when he goes to Wheeldon, so that is what he is used riding.
I was thinking a Beta Alp 200 would be good for him but not many around that I can see, am I on the right track?
Thanks in advance for any advice/suggestions/tips or offers of what you may have.
Poor kid 200 4 stroke a bit boring for a testosterone filled 14 year old. What ever you put them on it will be mastered.
I'd look at old xr250 as the minimum for a 14 year old.
My 14 year old has a KTM150Sx but he's been riding mx for a while and it's quite a beast.
I have a ktm200exc and use for green laning, enduro practice events and mx practice days. It copes with all of this really well. Having an adjustable PV means you can tone down the 2 stroke hit and makes it quite usable.
Wouldn't go Xr route personally due to heavy weight.
