just wondering if there are any mountain bike type folks out and about in mid devon? Im mid way through doing my MIAS Mountain Bike Leader training and need to get a couple of extra led type routes before I can go for my technical assessment.
Anyone fancy joining/ being led for a few hours at some point over the next month or so? Its more about route planning/ H & S, group considerations etc rather than hell for leather and showing off your super skills or supreme fitness (I wont take much beating)
If you fancy doing something akin to a bimble then please get in touch and I can plump up my log book.
There's miles of forest trails at Eggesford forest, Heywood and flashdown plantation just off the A377 that can be linked together Would be interested in coming along... if electric mountain bikes are allowed
Heywood Nr Eggesford is good place to start, there's a few decent trails that aren't too muddy there's also a nice old Norman motte & bailey, some fine old trees in the woodlands from the old Earl of Portsmouth estate as well as a trail down to the river Taw. Just round the corner is Flashdown plantation which is too boggy at the moment as the forestry have been in there pulling trees out. Not too far away is Eggesford forest which has some really good trails although some are very steep in places.
None of them are dedicated MTB tracks so if your looking for extreme riding then not the right place. Hope that helps?
