Core Event 26th July @ excellent local mx track.

Core's next practice event is a week Sunday at Littlehempston MX circuit. A decent track with nothing too sketchy to ride (although as per most mx tracks can be tough if real wet - as its on thenside of hill).

I love riding here and these Core days have groups that cater for all abilities without intimidation.

Unfortunately I'm away for this event - but have fun if you go.

Thanks Mark, I hope we get a good turn out from the trf at this one. Littlehempston is ideal for ''non mx' riders as well as the heros as there is no nasty drops or doubles go contend with, the whole track is rideable. My 5year old can get round on his crf 50 ....just.

Neither mate. Just happy to publicise these excellent local events (mainly as I'm riding most of my time with Troy now, so that keeps me off the lanes for the short term).

Cheers

My personal view is this would not be suitable for him quite yet. Although a nice flowing track with no awkward jumps, it is on the side of a steepish hill - probably about twice as steep as Brixton. I think if he could get round Brixton fairly easy then this would be a good step up for him (as long as reasonably dry) -- but for where he is now I'd suggest he's still go a little way to go (although will be there in no time at all).

Thats just my personal thought only. You could both arrive early and see/walk the track & make your own minds up. One good thing is unlike Brixton he'll be riding with other children and there will be riding & roaming marshall support - and sometimes a baptism of fire isnt always a bad thing !! Troy did do his first race here many years ago, but was already proficient at PCMP/Brixton and done a few Endurolands (but racing is a little different to practice events)

Hope that helps.

Thanks mate, appreciate the honest info.
Don't want to put him in anything too deep just yet, I might give it a go myself though !
I'll be booking him in a couple more sessions at wheeldon this summer to improve his skills - he's keen just needs more time on the bike.

I am planning on taking him up to Bratton Court for the dads & kids saturday - I can ride round with him then so will be able to help if he needs it, he wants to ride and the longer course would help him I think. He's quite keen on trials too, so might invest in a cheap trials bike each too

cheers
