Was out doing my xmas eve reccy run and thought I could add in 191-075, may not be able to
Anyway came a cross a sign that the rangers have put up, saying that they have been having problems with motorbikes not staying on the by way and going of piste into the woods.
Now I am not insinuating that it is anyone on this forum or any DTRF members, all I am doing is making people aware of the problem on this lane. I will be contacting dartmoor national park, to see if they would be happy for us to put some signs up, good opportunity for some PR work.
Just thought I would post it up, as this is a very special lane and it would be nice if we could do a bit of work with the dartmoor national park.
There's been a sign up at the west end of the lane for most of the year. No problem riding the lane, just a warning about wandering.
Last year a group of us met a couple of local kids blatting around on pit bikes, the only bit they weren't riding was the lane itself. We were told that it was OK to ride anywhere up there as it was owned by their "mate". After we'd helped drag one of the pit bikes up from a ravine they disappeared into the woods and we went on our way.
I'd suspect the "illegal" riding of the woods has little to do with TRF members.
Legal riders just need to take a minute or two and have a word in their shell like to try and make them who ride the woods see some sense as the public won't distinguish between legal and non
