Newton Abbot to Plymouth (19th Feb)

The Gf has mentioned she will be taking her mother to Trago (Newton Abbot) Friday 19th afternoon, "Great Idea bike in the van and ride back".. That's when the "Great Idea" stopped hmm.. LoL

Now Route all planned (Sticking sort of to the Southside of A38) and there a couple of lanes have some interesting comments, offers of any advice on lanes to avoid and anymore details on the following would be appreciated:

202-055 - running water watch out for off-camber sections? (East to West)

202-087 - Rutted - not for novices? (North to South)

202-096 - more treacherous and slippery with gullies and a climb that seems to go on forever? (East to West)

202-147 - Some tricky slate steps? (North to South)

Two things to keep in mind:

Most of the lanes I have never ridden before and the ones I have, I will probably be coming from the opposite direction!

I'm a relative newbie and I will be solo!

Thanks in advance biggrin

biggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin exactly... but would prefer not to have to call the Gf to collect me whilst she is with her mother.. Can hear it now "See I said it was silly riding that thing back".. "Are we going to be long as my soaps will be on soon".. "are you really getting in the van with those muddy clothes!" LoL

My advice is just go for it. It's all good experience and you'll be less of a novice afterwards.

The only one that could be called tricky is 202-096, I rode it yesterday and if you pick your way you should have no problem keeping out of the gullies. Keep to the RHS of the slate slabs as there is more grip there and keep your momentum going.

Have fun biggrin

I would stay away from 007 at the moment. Be too much water.

Thanks that confirms using 191-097 onto 202-005 is the better bet! wink

Going East to West, How far do the gullies & slate bed go? From Google maps I,m thinking the 90 degree lefthand bend at the last clump of trees and then normal track?

And after gulley a nice rut for a 100 yards

It's a good fun semi-technical lane.
