Steps, buzzard, clay wallow, wild flowers, beards, crocodile, pub

The steps placed by the water board below Conitor lane don't seem a shap edged or steep these days, but still demand a square approach into the lane. vlcsnap-2018-05-13-08h35m44s252.jpg

Rounding the bermed zigzags after Stubbins cross I disturbed a buzzard at lunch and had a close up view of the tiny package clutched in his claws as he wheeled away overhead. vlcsnap-2018-05-13-08h37m35s27.jpg

The driver of the small red car at the junction opposite Doughy lane looked confused by my arrival and I had to wait for her to move on her way vlcsnap-2018-05-13-08h39m24s113.jpg

The yellow clay wallow on Down lane was uncharacteristically dry and I bumped over the usually sticky section. vlcsnap-2018-05-13-08h40m47s211.jpg

The byway near Pridhamsleigh cavern is a riot of colour with wild garlic flourishing alongside the red campion, bluebells buttercups and daisysvlcsnap-2018-05-13-08h42m19s109.jpg

A dog walker in the field alongside the rutted muddy Parkfield byway looked as surprised to see me as I was he.vlcsnap-2018-05-13-08h45m40s6.jpg

Water from hedge to hedge running off out of sight around the corner caused me to slow but was clear enough to see the bottom and I splashed through.vlcsnap-2018-05-13-08h46m23s178.jpg

Initial annoyance at encountering a pick up parked across the lane with the doors open blocking the way turned to delight as I recognized my mate Dave, and approval as he invited me to the pub for a pint.vlcsnap-2018-05-13-08h48m18s87.jpg

We braved the school crocodile and were rewarded with smiles and wavesvlcsnap-2018-05-13-08h50m15s249.jpg

The Monks Retreat was not where I planned to be but it is sometimes good just to be spontaneous, and the beer was goodvlcsnap-2018-05-13-08h50m33s194.jpg

It is good to get out

That was amusing, topical and very enjoyable, thanks Pete.

You've missed your vocation and should be a trip organiser/writer/photographer.
