As above, anything will do. Test fit into CRF frame re engine mounts, exhaust, carb etc before I make the necessary purchase.

Ooooooooh Yess!!!
Thanks for the link, found several, but that one seems a bit more informative.
Im looking at TRX400 quad motor, same as XR, sort of.
Big bore kit at 440 can now be sourced for less than £100 delivered, barrel, pistons and gaskets etc.
Bonus, it has reverse!
Why would I like reverse?
When loaded, been up the wrong lane, turning around is tricky.
Dropped it a few times, hard to pick up etc etc.
You cant just fire it up the bank and roll back, or donut around the front wheel so etc.
90% of the "Adventure" bikes are NOT!
Hence built the CCM, did the job fine, just still too heavy.
So - Build another one!!
This time as light as possible with all the lessons learnt on the CCM built in.
CCM, I think, has found a new home. ;)

Link shows the reason why I was also looking at DR350SE lump.
Liner kit can bring it to 440 also.
Every bit possible for them.
Dont mind chopping bottom rails but dont want to chop the top ones, large tank etc.
Obviously no reverse, unless quad set up similar to Honda, which I havent checked yet.
Every day is a learning day!

XR400 is effectively a No.
Anyone got a DR350 engine that I can borrow for a couple of days?
Dead one would do, just for a sit in the frame or not, as the case maybe.
Happy to collect / return.
Im an honest sort of fellow, its safe with me ;)

the suzuki goose sg350 has a dr350 engine in higher tune, and has a seperate, larger oil tank rather than oil in frame, might be worth a look

Thanks Albert, been watching them as well. Didnt realise the higher spec.
I will check the gearing, DR works fine, just dont want any silly jumps.
I hope a smashed Goose or forgotten DR!!
Leccie start and retro fit kickstart bits, back up for flat battery etc.

I suppose it might be worth a look!
Only if I really really have to - Tee hee.
I might know someone who knows a bit about them. ;)

i think the ttr motor is shorter than the dr and probably similar performance with its dohc vs the drs sohc, plus its oil sump rather than oil in frame iirc

i hope youre making a project thread of the build

I might, when I get started!
Bought a rolling CRF250X off a fellow TRF member.
Rode a CRF250L rally, IMHO, stunning!
Might just buy one and have done with it or put an engine from a 250L into my rolling chassis.
The engines / damaged bike are getting about now, so been keeping my eyes out for one of them as well.
Had a possible lined up in Wales, not registered. Thought ODD! Asked for a engine number - went very quiet and cancelled the advert on FB marketplace.
Might be innocent but the thought "Thieving Scumbag" went through my mind.
Anyway, would need complete bike for cdi and injection stuff etc.

That'd be worth having for the cams & carb.... unless "regular carb" means it only has the 36mm BSR that the S/SM's have rather than the full fat 39mm FCR.

Thanks, but was looking for DR350, as in air cooled.
However, change of tack.
A friend has all the bits to repair my CRF250X motor, so he is doing it for me.
I will take stock after that, may use as is or sell and, possibly, CRF250L route!!
Not certain yet.

No worries. Saw it and quickly forwarded without rereading the post. May have been "the one"....
