I bought some wire from them the other day, not sure of the diam tho. More of an issue for me is that the tanalised rounded posts they sell only last 4 or so years since they stopped using the toxic chemicals in the pressure treatment.

I give my posts some extra treatment before putting them in the ground, the bottoms being in wet soil all time is what shortens the life span.

We soak every fence post in a 50 gallon barrel of creosote

its not creosote anymore ........ that was apparently carcinogenic

now its just some smelly brown liquid that doesnt really do the job ( just like the tanalise )

I spotted a load of new fencing recently ( think it was on Exmoor ) and they had used galvanised steel angle iron for posts -

Yep, galvanised is being used more, Im also exploring the cost of chestnut. I did think about soaking them in sump oil. You can get tar paper but that only works if you are not driving them in.

For agricultural, you can buy proper creosote at mole valley. (Or you could around here when it was called Scats)

Its the only thing that kill redmite in chicken coups.

Not sure if they asked for any numbers. Ive also blagged buying roundup Aggri stuff without a licence. You just need to sign their book. The creosote was only a 20 or 25l drum. This was a while back.l so things may have changed.

If you're not sorted, I have a roll of high tensile wire of some diameter

Ring if you are still in need

In the past Ive always well treated the posts in oil, and then sleeved them with drainage pipe nice snug fit before concrete. Havent replaced the posts in over 20years and still doing well.
