Dtrf meetings,should it be scrapped..?

At the last meeting, which the vast majority DONT  attend,we actually had a good one,it was short and we all or should I say the usual bunch (20) did, plus a newbie.

had a good yap,but this was in the minority of meetings,

I feel the meetings should go to a bi monthly meet or a quarterly as most is done on line, and the vast majority of people 400 don't seem to have any input or just cant be arsed,...usuall people excused..

Its just one Tuesday a month, not every week.its a 65 ml round trip for me,

The top table keep asking the same faces to help with this and that and we take the ostrich in the sand effect..me included.

It has dwindled away to 4 faces now I think, but still runs on in the back ground.

The top table keep on taking up the slack and doing more jobs and at some point it will stop, then what...

will some one from the vast majority stand up and  do you think anyone will or would..??

A year or so's time,it will probably be less faces,as it has been expressed that people want to take on less.

Who if anyone will volunteer.

I will make a proposal at the next meet to see what happens,i will probably be shot down but who cares anymore,

At least I make comments and don't give a toss..

My thoughts, from the perspective of someone who has attended many meetings but doesn't ride so often now. A TRF group only need hold one meeting annually to elect officers but I have never heard of one that does not meet at least monthly.

1. To my knowledge there has never been a meeting which did not take place due to nobody turning up, indeed even during heavy snow people came along for a natter.

2. While it may be true that more business is done online these days it would be a mistake to dismantle the sole mechanism whereby new members can actually make contact with the group.

3. Even if there were no officers to chair a meeting people would attend to chat and this is preferable to ending the group meeting because of apathy.

If you can improve on anything suggest something better, but your proposal while understandable is not a positive, constructive or useful one because it diminishes the group while saving nothing, beyond your effort in attending

Why not make it a travelling meeting?

Move it around the county from month to month, will mix it up a little and maybe tempt a few more out.

That was disscused a long time ago,but deemed unfeasable/workable,due to logistics and planning/venues.

Also Pete mentioned New people, they turn once or mabey twice, then most never seen again..

We have a East Devon meet @ White Horse, whilst not packed,it is attended, once or twice nearly the same as a monthly meet...

Yes, but the East meeting doesn't have any business, it's just a social.

Personally I think meetings are old hat, certainly regular meetings anyway, once a year or specials as/when would be enough IMHO.

But hey, if the people currently attending the meetings are happy to do so then why not continue them...
