YMMV but, when I was installing a worktop in a property I was renovating, I found a new, sharp panel saw to be neater, far more accurate and easier to control than the circular saws I tried so every worktop I've cut since has been by hand. But whatever you use the teeth must be sharp.

Cheers,
John

I will 2nd the good sharp hand saw a circular saw rips teeth upwards so chips the top a good chippy will only cut from the back with a circular saw on worktops or cut a line thick over then router jig the end from the top face to finish size
