Suspicious Rock Placement

Evening all.

The last few times I have been across Ridge Road Stokeinteignhead I have noticed some rather odd looking rocks placed along sections of the lane. They have mainly been quite small but awkwardly placed to force you to swerve to avoid them or stop and move them. I was out on my Beta on Saturday after changing my suspension setup and i am certain these were not there then. I did meet a two groups on the lane and slowed down to chat to one group so I may have missed the first rock on the photos attached. it could be entirely coincidental but I was cycling there today and noticed 3 fairly large sized well placed stones/rocks had been placed along the narrow section of the lane.

Luckily I was cycling and was able to spot them early, due to the slow speed i was limping along at. These could be dangerous if you were on a trail bike putting along the lane. I moved them all to a location that will make them difficult to find again. But just a warning to keep your wits about you along this section as they look rather conveniently placed to either slow someone down or cause injury. As I mentioned its not the first time I have cleared stones in this section. Albeit smaller ones in the past.

Top of the class my friend

Not only providing photos with a warning to others but not afraid to stop and find a solution, yes I'm hugely guessing they are there to slow or damage a rider/user of this road but we can't prove it I'm afraid

Loads of history on this lane and the adjacent one wink

Thanks for every thing you've done smile

Hi sean

I was leading the group that stopped to have a chat. You are right these rocks were placed along the lane in such a way you had

to leave the path and ride along the hedge row into the overgrowth. I stopped on a couple of times and manage to move them with

my boot not easy as some were large and heavy. If you were to hit one at speed it would have you off.

Hope you got your suspension sorted.

Vic

Hello again vic!

Did you manage to get view ranger sorted in the end? If you over this way again give me a DM and I will happily tag along with you. I will warn you I am a novice though.

I cleared the worst of the big rocks. By shot putting them into areas where they will be difficult to find. Hopefully it stays clear for a while.

I think there's at least two of us now who will monitor the lane and remove any debris that may appear.

Now we have a baseline of the lane being cleared, it will be helpful to see if they miraculously re appear. I will update this post if I find any more in the future.

Mind how you go.

I cycled through this lane again a couple of days ago. There had clearly been a 4x4 along there recently, with tyre tracks right up to the hedges each side,

which appeared to have disturbed some rocks, mostly small, into the central area again. I think it was that, rather than deliberate.

One of the rocks caught my eye though!

clearly free range ......

perhaps its one of those sat nav problems and the shopping delivery vehicle found itself using the lane ?

One of the stones that were helpfully thrown to the side by trail riders, lifted the wheel of the delivery vehicle and out jumped half the shopping .....

The evidence is all here
