wanted 1990 - 1995 DR250S gearbox

Customary ridiculous long shot.

Looking for complete gear cluster for project bike, typically 6th gear 17/24 not 19/23 as per rest of 250 and all 350.

Happy with blown motor / whatever.

Thanks

3rd is 24/18 if you have a spare set. It's a known mod on the drz400 to machine down a 3rd pair and fit them the other way around 18/24

Thanks Nige but DR is 6 speed and DR is 5.

Ive been anally through part numbers for all 250, DR350 and Goose.

The gears in the 19/23 box dont lend themselves to turn around etc.

1st and 2nd are identical for all, but the 250S spreads the next four ratios, effectively giving a complete gear higher as overdrive (Getting back to port etc)

The standard DR wont pull this extra gear standard, many hop ups would sort but I prefer standard, if poss. Hence picked up a Goose motor which will pull 90ish.

Im not interested in top speed, but should cruise at 70/75 and give a slightly lower 1st and 2nd.

The "project DR" is coming together nicely.

The DR250s is an import only, several worldwide etc.

Ive lined up a complete tidy bike that I can change box for a spare 350 good cluster that I have here.

A bit protracted, but if Im going to do it, then I want it "right".

Does it need doing - No it doesnt.

My motive has developed as a direct result of first hand and friends experiences.

Most of the Adventure bikes "arent".

You can use anything but thats not the point.

I wrote out a list of what I consider necessary as a basis and built up the project build plan from there.

Yes I could buy a 690 or 701 but they simply arent necessary.

SP and I did 10 days on easy going and averaged 22mph!!

So anymore than 35hp is irrelevant.

This is "my" idea and most wont agree.
