I enjoyed reading that, rose tinted glasses at the ready.

I envied those lucky enough to have a DT175 after seeing one drowned on a large puddle on Heathfield leaving just the twist grip sticking out of the water, then ridden away within 5 mins after draining. My TS 250 would stall in the presence of water, deep or no.

The prices quoted are staggering. Stupid money for machinery with poor brakes wooden suspension and lights even Lucas the Prince of Darkness would not have dared to sell.

Nostalgia is definitely not what it used to be.....

My DT175 had to go back to Torre M/C a couple of times as it didn't like rain but the problem was eventually solved by fitting a NGK plug cap in place of the original metal one that was shorting out. Sadly at the time I was young and totally lacking mechanical empathy so thrashed it mercilessly (the plug used to whisker when held flat out on the motorway) but it was when I discovered trials that it really took a beating. Now in pieces in the shed and has been for 40 years. One day, one day...

Cheers,
John

Just for purists that's an SL Honda not an XL. I had an SL which was cracking bike. Also a TS185 and CZ 175. I reckon I bought, rebuilt and sold 10+ FS1E's before I was 16 the most I ever sold a FS1E for was £90 the least i bought one for was £10 - two I was given. Generally a non runner was £15-£25. Mental prices for FS1E's now but I reckon they will plummet in price like Elvis memorabilia and become less valuable as the old farts with nostalgia and bulging baby boomer pockets drop off their previously penniless perches.
