Back out - 4Ride in the mud...


I bet the pics come out all screwed up but here we go...

Shortly after getting the Monty I injured my leg but yesterday I managed to get out around the old stomping ground for a proper test ! Lanes very wet and some washed out quite a bit (192-047 getting back to its old-self).

 We've just moved across the road to a rented semi (No 54) until our new (to us) bungalow in East Budleigh is finished.

We're having it modernised and extended and should be moving there sometime around August - when it's stopped raining and the sun comes out.

Not sure they would last long on your 690 if thats what your thinking they are fine on my little 85kg 260 Honda but I recon you would shred them in no time on your big old KTM... 

 

I should of added as the Monty has a tubeless rear rim (another big bonus) Im running down as low as 8 psi now - makes for interesting road manners but boy does it grip

 Will steer clear then, TBH you can't beat a C02, put one on the CRF and the 690 will be having one as soon as I shred the current tyre (which is new, but too soft for the throttle) wink

Air box is low and its FI (so not sure how it would deal with a drowning). My view is if my feet are in the water then Im in trouble as bottom of air box is about 4-6 inches above pegs.

So I walked that crossing first after standing beside bike to suss out where pegs were in relation to my boots and concluded if it came 3/4 up my boots it was risky - so after all that waffle I recon about 1 foot is as deep as I would be prepared to go - though I have seen videos of folks going quite a bit deeper....

Its a fantastic little bike and I have wanted one for ages. Its just superb on the lanes, and you dont have to go far to have some real fun as you can play around with it on the more technical bits....its very light and will turn on a sixpence so for lone rides its ideal if you get into an awkward spot.

Only a couple of downsides - tank is tiny (4.4L) which will get you around 45-50 miles, but I carry 3l spare in the big compartment under the seat so have a range of around 70-80 miles.

Other one is the oil and filter change is a PITA as the filter is inside the clutch cover so it all has to come off - other than that its bloody brilliant and with the cat gone and 4RT pipe fitted it sounds lovely with a really nice (but not offensive) bark when its pulling

Just noticed you have a 4RT? - why not stick a long range seat and tank on that as thats basically what this is.....as I understand with a bit longer travel forks and slightly higher top gear...

 I have got a Repsol 4RT, but its set up for Trials and tricked up

I would fancy a 4RIDE as it is a bit different and I could set it up for LDT, as I have plenty of trick parts and a spare set to f wheels etc

Any time when I'm in John, either phone before or call as you pass.

The Triumph is my only bike remaining, all the rest went over the last four years, boo hoo.

Sentiment makes the T100 stay where it is for now, it's not doing any harm.
