Teign to Tamar 2022

IMG_2239.JPG

Teign to Tamar,

Next meeting at the Dolphin there will be a big push to sort out a team of people to manage and coordinate this important event in our calendar.

Kirstie. Our treasurer, has already volunteered a huge wealth of experience and help with the admin and financial side of this event but will need a significant amount of help from others to make this work.

Someone will need to take overall control which sounds daunting but with a good team of willing helpers, this should be an enjoyable experience not a chore.

We will need people to sort out the;

On site catering.

Run leaders

TECs

Recovery service

Possible entertainment for the Saturday evening

Meet and greet for the weekend.

This is a great event for the people who pay to come and ride our lanes, it is also a great event for the people who contribute to its running and organisation.  It has been a long time since we have been allowed to enjoy ourselves properly, perhaps this could be just the thing to look forward to.

Some arrangements are already being made in the background, but we need your help.

If you cant make the meeting but would like to volunteer your services, or if you are not sure if you are up to the job PM me and I will start compiling a list, or hopefully help you decide.

Thanks all

Trevor

I dont know whats required in any detail Ian, I am hoping a free beer and the chance to meet up again will bring people out of the woodwork so that we can start the discussion.

Happy to lead or tech both days, but need to know the dates as with four young grand kids across the country we are away from Devon roughly every other weekend.
Should be able to find a TEC.

Of course, Im happy to pass on all the info Ive accumulated over the past few years of organising to whoever is going to manage the event. Let me know once you have a keen volunteer and we can meet up, preferably before October.

I can probably be available to TEC for an intermediate level or touring level group on the Saturday. Sunday availability will depend on the date.

I have received this information,so if you are planning routes please note this is Sunday.

Hi Trevor,

I have just realised that the Devon Dirt MTB event is on the Sunday 3rd April. This event starts and finishes at Big Peaks bike shop in Ashburton and uses a variety of lanes around the Staverton/Landscove area, Ilsington/Liverton and Manaton. Approx 400 riders starting.

Map here: https://www.cyclinguk.org/devondirt

I followed the link to the 'We Are Cycling'  page, it took a while to locate the date of their event!

Downloading their gpx route file, they are using, in order;

202-043 Lavender Hotel, Ashburton

202-044 Summerhill down to the old A38

202-055 Pridamsleigh to Bulland

202-064 Baddaford

202-077 Higher Beara Cross to Well

202-294 Woolston Green

202-066 Beaston

202-058 Parkfield

202-056 Bulland

191-105 Lounston

191-088 Simms (down)

191-080 Leighon

191-075 Old Manaton Road/Houndtor Wood (down)

191-090 and 191-089 Tipley (down)

191-087 Lenda Lane (up)

191-085 Lounston again

Devon Dirt route 030422.JPG

So, I'll do this area on Saturday, and venture somewhere else on the Sunday.

Good heads up, thanks.
