answering a call for help when our Cornish cousins gave up for various reasons. 6 of us assembled at the beautiful Boconnoc estate on Friday to help set the course for Endurance GB around the grounds of this stately pile.
After loading up with flags and tapes we set of with our mentor Geoff to set 3 courses.
5 hours and about 2 inches of rain later we arrived back at base feeling we had earned our sundowners and outside the selection of temporary accommodation, tucked in to a meal wondering where the summer had gone.
The next day dawned bright and we checked the course (a 2 hour lap), then went round again at the end of the day.
The competitors arrived and set of to tackle the routes we had set and the feedback we got was very good.
Sunday was a much better day for weather and we had several runs around the estate delivering things and guiding people to their positions.
At the end of the event we demonstrated some excellent team riding skills and cleared the course in record time.
We were well fed, well received and had a great weekend.
It was a real treat to have the run of a 20000 acre playground, and not one afforded to the general public.
If anyone else is interested in getting involved with any future events, make yourself known to Jackie.
I for one will be going to Boconnoc next year.

Staff sergeant Bittlestone producing rations on Friday evening, the chilli was excellent not so sure about the sausage chicken and beans. The wine and beer plus Gin and tonic were a suitable acumpniment.
