Deliberate lane blocking

Hi,

should I flag deliberate lane blocking or just stop moaning. GRMUID 4977  Lane past St Wenns Cottage has two vehicles parked at the cottage so that the lane is blocked with no gaps for bikes. We came down the lane and needed a tricky u turn to go back up.

This was more to warn others as a larger group would struggle to turn around on the steep rocky entrance which was blocked by a Transit that looked like it hadnt moved for months and an Audi TT

report it to DCCs Public Rights of Way department  here   they also know it as Hartland uUCR 302 002

Ian, thanks for posting on here, definitely not classed as moaning.

Perhaps if you ride it again and there is a car in the way, try knocking on the door of the house and asking them to move it.  If the Transit hasn't moved for a while it might not be taxed and motd so parked on a highway illegally.

Definately follow the link in Rays response.

cheers Trevor

Hi, Devon website doesnt recognise it as a public access lane so wont let me tag it. Only the tracks in pink are allowed to be tagged. i will email them.

Sorry, yes despite Highways handing responsibility of unsurfaced County Roads to the PROW department, the PROW website only allows issues identified on Footpaths, Bridleways and Restricted Byways and not UCRs that are also part of their network.

Try this link instead https://www.devon.gov.uk/roadsandtransport/report-a-problem/map/map_src/deb/

Ian, knock on the households door, always a shot if they don't know there's a public highway running down to their property

The PRoW department having 'blocking' powers to serve notice - backed up by police escort wink

Email the police stating the problem and include the RoW warden for that area

Ride the green road again and see if the issue is persistent, try the other direction maybe, a few options

Had an email. They are sending a letter to the occupants to ask them to keep the lane clear

Well thats a start, if you get chance go and check if they have adhered to the instruction.

Good effort though

Trevor.

Good standers - Thanks very much for your time

If/when you ride that way its always handy to print your email reply just in case they get snotty, they might be unaware of the public right of way wink

Please keep your email reply on file as we all might need proof of the correspondence if persistent blocking occurs

Lets hope for a successful outcome

Thanks again smile
