I rode that way a couple of weeks ago and dont recall it being there Ian. Is it above or below where the path splits off through the bomb hole? As I came in that way so might of missed it.

Slightly below the cross roads by about 20 feet Jack

Looks like its been there for a while as there is a worn place on the trunk and small log in front to enable the climb over.

When are you free mate wink could get Barky to drive up there in his Landy...it'll save lardy's legs biggrinbiggrin

It seems odd that no one has said anything up till now.  Is it a rarely used lane.

I have seen twigs reported on here quicker than that.

Depending on when you have a go Ian I could pop over, it would be nice to see you anyway.

Thanks for ALL the replies and more importantly the offers of help

I phoned Coombe estates Friday 15/9/23 mid afternoon, spoke to the estates manager, with whom I've tried contacting before regarding volunteer works on their land, a bridleway we were volunteering on in Sidmouth parish, only had a voice conversation with the land owners daughter, very nice young lady wink

Anyways back to the point the estates manger was really nice and we chatted about all sorts of things...we finally pin pointed to where the oak limbs were on their land as its a tad difficult with different mapping apps etc...anyways their forestry manger is going to sort the problem and keep the Oak for their woods sales -Bugger! biggrin

There is still the underlying issue with off piste riding plus 4x4 driving in the area, clearly Coombe estates are still annoyed about these issues, ride responsibly people and hopefully the group of the good ole TRF can help resolve the issues relating to this wonderful green road..

I've now offered to be a point of contact for trail riders with Coombe est. they can contact someone about the issues...its not just about Oak tree limbs guys smile

Thanks Wacky smile

I would have slowed, dipped the clutch and jumped that in my head ........................................but the reality is I would have tried to ride over it, fell off straight away, laid on the log moaning and groaning until I got back up

This tree is still down. And someone had built a large barricade of branches at the side to prevent any motorcycles getting past! i spent 10 minutes in the rain moving them all out the way. After turning left and riding past the water hole to the lane end there were more several more branches which had been dragged over the track. so look out !

Thanks Jack

Not surprised they are hopeless C.E.'s no

Regarding the branches across the rights of way - there are plenty and have been for years on & off mate...If only trail riders would report it in then we would have evidence of said blockages..

If I see Em tonight I'll ask and report the situation

Photos would be handy, can't believe the amount of people who travel with phones don't take photos...

Sent on the 16/10/23 07.24

Good morning Justin Lascelles

Sorry I had forgotten to send an email to you after our telephone conversation on the 15/9/23, thanks for the pleasant chat it was good talking to you Justin.

I telephoned about the fallen oak tree or limbs down on summer lane
I explained the location of the Oak tree on summer lane we did get there after we used a few different types of mapping to get the location, You explained you were really busy (understand that one) the forestry department at Coombe estates would clear the fallen Oak tree.

Ive ridden Summer lane on Sunday 15/10/23 with noticing the Oak is still in situIve attached a photo for reference.
Im more than happy to remove the obstruction for Coombe estates, I do have a chainsaw certificate along with all the PPE & signs, insurance for my business also specifying chainsaw use on public areas such s this one.

More than happy to help Justin

I look forward to your reply so we can source a solution
