Yup, did Rydon Lane today, completely failed to find the other lanes I was looking for, but got plenty of water crossing practice. Every road had running/standing water on it. Insane.

I love the snorkel.

I can imagine the conversation with his mechanic in a few month "Ermm.. no.. I have no idea how water got in the wheel bearings"

would this be any different to us riding in 2ft of water whilst keeping the air intake above water level ?

my mechanic (?) would simply change the wheel bearings and accept it as the price we pay to enjoy winter riding.

I think the bigger problem might be the sudden contraction of warm / hot metal on first immersion, causing a suction potential.
Years ago we discussed routing all the breather vent pipes to allow them to terminate up as high as practical.

Was curious and impressed with the electric trail bikes used in the Scottish 6 day trial, featured in a recent link here, as they seemed unconcerned about deep immersion in water.

I would be most concerned with mixing electrics / tronics and muddy water .......

 No, they're looking to do it, but haven't yet, so the signs have been removed, as have the posts. It's currently being challenged.

 Geoff, after tarmacing it smooth, DCC have proposed to TRO Rydon Lane. To oppose their proposal, go online here and tell them why they shouldn't.
