Any body using mousses for green laning? If so have you had any trouble with police. Also what about effects on MOT and insurance as I gather they are not road legal?
Hi Andy, I have used Mousses for the last 10 years or more now with no issues. I fit a valve cut off from an old tube onto the rim so it still looks standard. This is also useful when you have a stubborn tyre that wont seat the bead. You can use a compressor through the valve stem to pop the mousse and tyre into place.
I couldnt comment on the insurance aspect if in a crash etc
Like Jack I have been running mousses for over 10 years. I too fit valves (Tube less ones) and like Jack use them to seat the tyre on the bead. The guys who MOT my bike have never commented on my use of mousses. I dont think many police officers would know whether you are running mousses or not.
I also use mousses, have 2k on mine so far, I think they are brilliant. The critical thing for life is mousse lube, you can buy a big tub for £20. Slap loads of it in there. Normally mousses are used by MX types who have their tyres on and of every weekend, so they tend to liube up every time. I think with us we are more likely to fit and forget. But I noticed that after Strata Florida, with a billion full depth soakings, that the mousse lube had been washed out. So now I keep a closer an eye on it, and relube every so often. You will get good at changing tyres.. I have seen a system where you can pump lube in via the valve, just a big syringe with a thread on attachment I might have a look at that.

Raced for years on mousses.
All good but they go dead after a while.
Cheap lube (free ;) ) hepsleeve pipe grease.
Again, used for years.
I've been told new generations mooses last better.
They break down within, turn to crumbs.
Personally, I run Tubliss.
I use agriculture gloop in them.
I've had two punctures in 10+ years.
Murphy's law, one last week in the middle of nowhere in Spain. Bladder failed.
Main advantages over mooses, 360° wheel clamp and the tyre behaves as the manufacturer intended.
Can be run flat to get home.
I tested this 20 miles on the road. A bit strange to get going but doable.
On a run, I carry a 21" tube, just in case.
