Unfortunately the Environment agency wouldn't let farmer Chris restore the river or the umborne brook into its natural position 2 years ago, the brook has washed away some of the bank and moved direction of the water. This in turn has washed the concrete pipes away from there original position in the field, therefore the water that passes under the little foot bridge cant drain away.
Blocking access to the footpath along with filling up the UCR (green road) quite deep I would imagine, over a metre at the bridge point.
The only thing that is on our side is the FP, someone will complain about access sooner or later, then hopefully the combined efforts of EA & DCC PRoW departments will rectify the problems
Hopefully we'll see the tide dropping soon and a result can be achieved, I know with recent winter rains/weather DCC PRoW is swamped with their work load, more than normal, so don't expect a quick fix
Farmer Chris has retired 2 yrs ago with not owning so much as a shovel, so no quick fix there under the radar
I don't see a legal foot path on the definitive map, so I'm guessing this is a permissive path then, as there is a foot path gate a the brook bridge, interesting
