Mysterious black netting on hedges!

OK - so who knows what the heck all this netting of hedges in N Devon is all about? All I can think is that someone wanted to stop birds nesting in the netted hedges confuse

May be partridge.....
but
I'm not a pheasant plucker !biggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin

No quite seriously released pheasants can and are causing destruction of hedges particurlarly noted on shoots in and around Exmoor.

google : pheasants netting hedges, and there are a few pages dedicated to the environmental concerns of RSPB etc... even a white paper ....
